Humans determine whether they should engage with or avoid another person based on the way they appear, sound and smell.
While most studies focus on the visual sense, a recent study found that humans appear to smell their hand after shaking hands with a stranger, indicating the smell of another person may form a type of "assessment".
The aim of the current study is to extend previous research findings by determining whether people assess the body odour of another person when they hug them, which will be determined by an experimental study.
